Wangditse Goemba, also known as Druk Wangditse Lhakhang, serves as a monastery and a viewpoint. The iconic Tashichho Dzong can also be viewed from this monastery. According to local beliefs, traditional Bhutanese language, literature, and cultural arts originated from this site. 

During the 2011 earthquake in Bhutan, this monastery encountered structural damage. However, the Bhutanese artisans spent years rebuilding the damaged structure, which was finally completed and reopened to the public in early 2020. One can easily hike to Wangditse Goemba because it offers a flat 1.5- to 2-hour walk.

Ideally, Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) because of perfect hiking conditions and clear, panoramic views. Here is a seasonal breakdown for better clarity of why both these seasons are preferred for exploring Wangditse Goemba:

• Spring: During this season, the valley blooms with pink, white, and red rhododendrons, alongside wild magnolias. Additionally, the daytime temperature ranges between 12°C and 20°C, which offers a comfortable climate to hike.
